Yikes! I've had them before and they are painful!. I ended up having to get the surgery, which had no complications and did not cause any pain, but they told me to make sure I drank at least one large glass of water with lemon, or cranberry juice an hour to make sure i stayed hydrated!. Not the Cranberry juice cocktail, but straight cranberry juice, it takes a while getting used to!. I've also heard that drinking a beer can help flush out your kidneys!.
