This is a difficult question and should be dealt with with some delicacy!. You don't want to scare the child unnecessarily!. But the best way is to be truthful without giving too much information or information that is not known for sure!. For example, although you may have an idea what the prognosis is, you don't know for sure what's going to happen!.

One way is to tell the child that mommy has found out that she is sick and she will need to take some treatments that may cause X, Y and Z (whatever the side effects might be)!. Mommy might need some extra attention, help and rest during this time!. Tell the child they can always ask questions about what is going on and that they will be told if there is any new information (such as if Mommy has to go in the hospital, etc!.)!. You don't need to go to worst-case scenarios or explain what might happen or when things might happen!. Just keep the child informed all along!.

The more normal you can make it seem the less traumatized the child will be!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

wow!.!.!. UM first off you should find out if the child knows what cancer is, and if they don't then try to explain it!.!.then i'd say just be honest!. it will hurt like hell i'm sure but if you lie it will be more so!.!. just be honest and don't sugar coat!. children understand more than you think!. I'm very sorry to hear that!.

You must talk to her as an adult!. She is 100 per cent capable of understanding and there is no getting around this!.

It is important for her to know sooner rather than later!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
