The incubation period (the time from exposure to symptoms becoming apparent) for genital herpes infections averages about 6 days!.

So, it is possible that symptoms can appear 2 days post exposure!.

In the case of some HSV genital infections (especially those of HSV-1) it is possible that a person may have a very mild, unnoticeable outbreak at first!. Therefore, for some people they experience their 'first' outbreak months or years later, but in reality they most likely had a mild initial outbreak!.

It typically takes a bit longer than that, but it is my understanding that it can show up as soon as two days after exposure!.

If you've had sex with someone who had an active lesion (a blister or other herpes sore) then the chances are VERY high that you did catch herpes!. You'll want to keep your eyes open for symptoms, but even if you don't get any, its still possible that you were infected!. Most people who have genital herpes don't know that they have it because they have no symptoms!.
