How do you keep from contracting genital herpes from an infected partner?!

Question: How do you keep from contracting genital herpes from an infected partner!?
Answers:
If your partner has herpes, there are three or four things that I would suggest!. In order of importance, they are:

First, and most importantly, never ever EVER have sex when your partner has an outbreak, or thinks that they might be about to have an outbreak!. Herpes is most contagious during an outbreak!. Never ever!. Don't take chances on this one!.

Second, your partner could take antiviral drugs!. Antivrirals (like Valtrex, Famvir or Zovirax) reduce the number of outbreaks they'll have, but they also reduce the amount of time that your partner will be infectious without symptoms (also known as asymptomtic shedding)!.

Third, you can wear condoms - although condoms don't seem to do a whole lot to protect against herpes, they do provide some benefit!.

You should probably also learn as much as you can about herpes and how it is spread!. This will really only help you stick to suggestions one, two and three - but if it does that, then its worthwhile!.

A study was done with couples where one had herpes and the other did not!. The couples recieved regular, intense counselling about never ever having sex during an outbreak!. Some used condoms!. Others didn't!. The transmission rate was about 2% per year for couples that did NOT take antivirals, and 1% for couples that did!. I happen to think that these numbers may be low, I'm betting that the intense counseling really made poeple pay very very close attention to any possible sore or lesion - so your mileage may vary somewhat!. But even if your chances were 5% per year, those are still pretty good odds, in my book!.

I strongly recommend the website below for more information about herpes!. I've also put a link to the study I mentioned above!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is no 100% guarantee!. With condoms and if the partner takes suppressives (ie valtrex) the chances of contracting it is like less than 5% a year!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

be sure to use condoms, even with there is still a chance of getting herpes!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do not touch them, use the same towels, or sit where they sat!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
