After a throat infection and taking medications my sugar level has gone high! 26!

Question: After a throat infection and taking medications my sugar level has gone high! 260!. What happened!?
Normally my sugar levels vary between 120-130, taking metformin and prandin!. But after an infection this week (I took zyrtec, tylenol, excedrin and pseudophedrine) my sugar has gone to 260 and I feel nothing but dizzy, light headed, drowsy!.

What happened!? What should I do!?
What is the risk!? How dangerous it can be!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Either the infection or the over the counter meds caused the high blood sugar!. This happens pretty often with medications and infections so it could be either one!. I'm not familiar with prandin or metformin, but i'm assuming those are the medications you're on to manage your diabetes!. Taking the prandin was probably a good idea, but if 2 tablets is more than your usual dosage, then make sure to check your blood sugar every 15-20 minutes to make sure it doesn't drop too low!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I never take any medicine without calling the pharmacist and asking how it will affect my blood sugars!. Also your normal blood sugars are a little higher than you want!. They should be between 80 - 120 before meals!. I would ask my doctor about changing your diabetic dosage or send you to diabetic education classes to get your diabetes under better control!. In any event call your doctor right away and tell them what is going on and you need immediate advice!. Good Luck! Www@Answer-Health@Com

you need to call 911 right away or have someone take you to the emergency room!. that sugar is critically high and can cause you to pass out or worse!.

blood sugar is nothing to mess with and you might need an insulin drip (via I!.V!.) to lower it!.

please seek help right away!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go for the walk!. The sugar contents in those medicines may have caused high sugar in the blood!. go for a 30 minutes brisk walk!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
