Okay to lower your cholesterol you need to eat fruits and veggies!. Stay away from salad dressings or use them sparingly! And if it says Low fat or fat free (don't eat it or buy it) it's misleading it has stuff in it to make you fat and you will raise your cholesterol! Lean meats!. Mainly chicken, fish and turkey! Take a supplement of fish oil or flax seed oil! And a Fiber supplement! Along with a multi vitamin/multi mineral!

Stay away from potatoes, breads (unless it's 12 grain wheat, and that's still limited), rice, pasta!.

Eat good carbs!

No fried or fatty foods!. Cheese is fatty! No gravies, or creamy sauces!.

No white breads like bagels, rolls or sliced white bread!

I know this sounds hard!. but,it's okay to cheat a little once in a while!. If you want something sweet have it, but in moderation!.

If you have kids! I know they like all this stuff! And money is tight! But my opinion is I changed my diet have lost 50 pounds and my kids have grown to like what I eat now!. You need to teach them to eat healthy!

Also, get daily excercise! Even if it's just a short walk!

Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Here are the facts!. Green vegetables actually lower cholesterol!. So do certain grains such as oatmeal!. Foods with omega-3fatty acids such as salmon have been determined in research studies to both lower "bad" (LDL) cholesterol and raise "good" (HDL) cholesterol!. So, you received truly bad advice!. Please get a new doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If I had a Dr give me advice like that I would find a new one!.
No veggies or bread!? BS you need to avoid red meat, peanut butter, but before I did anything I would get a second opinion AND a new Dr!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am a physician and that is terrible advice!. Some doctors are not up to date on medical knowledge!. I would suggest avoiding things that contain saturated fat and or trans fats (aka; hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils)!. There is no need to completely avoid things high in cholesterol such as eggs and shell fish because in the absence of saturated fats, the cholesterol is not completely absorbed!. Eat veggies and whole grain breads as well as lean proteins!. Second, exercise is probably the most important aspect of lowering your cholesterol!. I would suggest 30 min of aerobic exercise 4 times per week!. An alternative therapy for lowering your cholesterol and also preventing the inflammation that causes heart disease is found in Mangosteen fruit extract!. There are numerous studies on Pub Med confirming this and suggesting it in the treatment of high "bad" cholesterol!. It can be found at www!.myvemma!.com/enhance for cheaper than a redbull a day!. It worked for my wife!Www@Answer-Health@Com
