Three weeks worth of abdominal pain?!

Question:

Three weeks worth of abdominal pain?

For about three weeks now, I've had this ache in my abdomen, just slightly lower then my belly button, and to the right. Its a dull ache most of the time, with an occasional sharp pain thrown in if I move the wrong way. I've also had an on-and-off low grade fever, and swollen glands. Anyone have any idea what this might be? I can't afford to go to a doctor, so if I can avoid it, I need to. Thanks!

I'm 21, and I've been having regular periods for 11 years, so I think I'm good on that one.

I'm 99.9% sure it isn't appendicitis- it isn't painful enough, it isn't tender to the touch or swollen, and my digestive system has been completely normal. If I'd had appendicitis for three weeks, my appendix would have burst by now. I don't think thats what it is.

Doesn't IBS usually involve diarrhea? I haven't had anything unusual in that department.

Answers:

Among other things, it could be:

-Chronic appendicitis, not acute like a lot of people get
-Something dietary- try eating more fruit and veggies- even if they're canned or in a jar, that might help some
-Flesh eating bacteria (kidding, really- only make that joke because I know you- and its fun to scare you :-) )
-Could be a pulled muscle from smoking if you've been coughing a lot
-It could just be an infection causing the symptoms
-It may be some kind of ulcer (could be serious)

Anyway, the bottom line really is to just go see a doctor if this keeps up much longer- scraping together cash for a copay may save you a lot more trouble than if whatever it is suddenly gets worse and you end up needing a lot more treatment in a hospital or from multiple doctors. I do hope that you feel better soon though!
