Hi!

Hope you will pardon a male answer but I actually do have a lot of experience here having worked in a genitourinary medicine department!.

If it's itchy then it is most likely thrush - the other most likley candidate is contact dermatitis if you have (for instance) changed brands of tampon, washing powder or anything else that comes into contact with this area!.

If it is thrush then canesten is actually very effective - there is a pack that contains a pessary (goes into the vagina) and cream that is called canesten combi and this is very effective!.

If this is not effective, or you get it back quickly then go see your doctor - possible causes include undiagnosed diabetes (though this is unlikely) or the symptoms may be resulting from a sexually transmitted infection!.

If you are worried about going to see your GP then try one (or more) of the following:

See the practice nurse instead (usually female)
Ask to see a female doctor
Take a trusted friend
Go to a GUM clinic instead - you can still take a friend and can give a false name if you want!. You can find your nearest at http://www!.condomessentialwear!.co!.uk/get!.!.!.

Note that whatever you do, your health provider cannot tell your parents without your permission!.

Hope this helps, good luck

thrush is a fungal infection/overgrowth in your mouth/throat so it sounds unlikely this would be that!. you can start off with an OTC cream like monistatapplied to the area as the instructions advise!. it is common, usually not worrisome, just irritating/inconvenient!. have you been on any antibiotics recently!? they can be a common cause of this if no help after 5-7 days with otc then it is time to see the docWww@Answer-Health@Com

Thrush is an oral infection!. Sounds like you may just need to go to the store and get a vaginal yeast infection cream or tablets!. They also have ointments and suppositories!. It's ok, a lot of women go through this!. in fact, I had a yeast infection at the age of 16!. :)

If you have never had this problem before it should be fine to get treatment by over the counter drugs!. If this is continuous and have had this problem numerous times its best to see your doctor first!.

Lots of time itching down below can be from simply not getting all the soap off, use of body spray there, the undies we wear, etc!. You may also find out your allergic to the laundry soap you are using!. Have you changed brands lately!? Hope this helpsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Don't be afraid!. You must see your GP, they will need to give you a diagnosis and the right treatment!. We've all had thrush at one time so don't be embarrased!. You could also buy the Canesten treatment (for thrush) over the counter at your local chemist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Drs don't bite!!

It could be thrush!. You can try Canesten, which can be brought over the counter, or try using natural LIVE yogurt, for best results this needs to be inserted, either with a tampon or syringe (without the needle!)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Get some Canestan cream - even if you don't have thrush, it won't do any harm!. Easily bought over the counter!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
