Does diabetes make you irritable?!

Question:

Does diabetes make you irritable?

Answers:

(Speaking for myself) Ignorant people make me more irritable than my diabetes. If I were to let my situation get me down... yes, I could become irritable. Since I mastered cognitive therapy a couple of years ago to conquer my depression, however, very little gets me down. Diabetes is nothing when compared to some of the other stuff I have to deal with.... like fibromyalgia, for example. It's all about putting things into the proper perspective.

If a person's diabetes were to get out of control, yes, it could make you irritable along with several other nasty things. As long as it's kept under control, we're no different than other folks. Many (type 2) diabetics, however, are irritable because they're feeling cheated out of a "normal" life. A better way of looking at it is this.... We have been blessed with a wake up call. It's time to take care of yourself, or else. Since eating healthy, losing weight, and exercising, I've found that I feel as good as I did twenty years ago.
