I am 39 years old and have been smoking Marlboro Reds since I was 14!.
I saw this question and was furious, but after reading Chucks reply, I thought about it more!.
How 'bout: "I hate that I smoke"!. Actually, I try NOT to *H*A*T*E*!. Let's just say I really-really-really dislike the fact that I cannot (or will-not) quit!. I dislike the fact that it was sssO glorified when I was a kid in the 70's & 80's!. Watching my mother smoke, or Lucy, Ethyl & Ricky on the "I Love Lucy Show", or all the other shows where it was 'OK'!. A pack of smokes was only 75 cents, too!.
When I was a child watching all the adults, the question truly was "Who did *NOT* smoke"!!! Smoking was such-the-in-thing back then and it hooked me to a point where it is, now, virtually impossible to stop (willingly)!
How dare you crucify us for being addicted to something! Dare I give fat people heck for eating too much!? Do I slow down drastically in front of someone who 'obviously' wants around me!? Should I enforce those who are kleptomaniacs!?
How 'bout you alcoholics, huh!? I cannot stand people who are drinking! But I do not "hate on them"!
I can, however, understand the frustration of those who do NOT care for it (Ie!. *HATE*)!. Personally, knowing this, I do not smoke around people unless they're smoking too!. Unlike most smokers, I *DO* respect the non smokers and conform for the time being!. I can wait for HOURS to light uP if I have to!.
Also, seeing the 'category' of this post, I realize it is very harmful, but I am OK!. I'll try not to smoke around you!

I'll say this: When people decide to take a little jaunt around campus while smoking, it is annoying to find yourself walking behind them and then "hit" in the face with their exhaled smoke!. I don't enjoy that as it burns my eyes and my hair smells bad for the rest of the day!. But, I do know that when people smoke for a long period of time, they don't notice the smell that much!. For those who successfully quit, they find how acutely they are able to detect the smoke!. They say how mildly horrified they were to discover how intrusive the smell was (i!.e!. "I was driving and I could smell the smoke from a person two cars ahead of me!.")!. Still unapologetic, though!. But, I wouldn't want anyone harping on my bad habits, either!. i hate the disgusting habit, i don't automatically hate the person, but i'll admit i do dislike them for smoking, i can't help it!. i really hate smoking!. if its someone who is trying really hard to quit, then i do feel bad for them though and don't really hate them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
It's not that I hate smokers, because I do not know the person smoking, therefore I cannot hate them!. However, I do think smoking is really bad and it's a total turn-off!. Whenever I see someone smoking I pass by them holding my breath and sometimes I cough!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
