Question: Why does my doctor still give me steroids whenever I'm sick!?
I had asthma for many years and I know that I don't have asthma anymore!. Right now, I have a sinus infection and my doctor gave me steroids to take for 6 days!. Why does he always give me steroids when I'm sick!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ok!.!.!.!.I am going to give you a quick rundown on the whole sinus infection thing!. Cold and allergies cause INFLAMMATION of your sinuses!. Inflammation can cause mucus production!. Mucus can build up in your sinuses and if it sits too long it can become infected!. So, your Dr!. is giving you steroids to help with the inflammation in your sinuses!. usually sterroids prevent inflamation - i wouldn't say your doctor gives you sterroids everytime your sick, just when your lungs or another part of your body could be affected by inflammation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Steroids shrink inflamed tissues, they are not a common treatment for something like a sinus infection!. Ask your Dr why uses the steroids vs an antibioticWww@Answer-Health@Com
