Bump/pimple type thing on face........?

Hello. On my face, my left cheek, about a few inches diagonal to my lips, there is this bump. I've had it for what seems like a year. It's like a pimple, but has never "turned" out to be one and it's never been painful. It's like purpley looking, it just looks like a scar (maybe from a previous pimple, etc.) but latley, it's been painful like a new pimple forming and it seems a little swollen. I'm on 16 years old, what could it be? I'm outside all the time, could it be melanoma, or something? Help, I first thought it was a pimple, but I don't know what it is now. I don't know if it will turn into a pimple or what............

Thanks everyone! Nancy M, no I do not take birth control or anything like that (of course I take aspirin on occasion and pamprin when I'm on my period, but other than that, no other medications.) I use those Oxy facial pads to keep my face clean and clear of acne, could that be a possibility?

It could be a cyst problem or something. I've heard about those. Perhaps you should see your doctor (I presume you've tried to treat it if it's been there for so long, and it hasn't worked).
