Gardisil shot?
Does anyone know how effective the new Gardisil HPV shot is? The clinic at my college is offering them, but I don't want to waste my money unless its worth it.

The vaccine will protect you against four strains of HPV (2 of them are responsible for 70% of cervical cancers, and 2 of them are responsible for 90% of external genital warts.)
The vaccine study also showed immune cross reactivity with other HPV strains so the vaccine may provide protection or partial protection from some of the other strains.
The vaccine won't protect you from any strain that you have currently, though I believe the study also showed that even if you already have some of the 4 (protected) strains the vaccine may help with the severity of the infections.
The vaccine is definitely worth the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
