Answers:
Yes it is true!.

It is LESS likely to happen when you don't have a cold sore, but CAN and often does still happen!.

It happened to me, my boyfriend has also suffered from cold sores since he was a kid, and he gave me genital hsv-1 from his cold sores!. He was NOT having an outbreak at the time and never gave me oral sex when he had an outbreak!. He had no symptoms at all!.

However, it normally only happens to people who have never had cold sores before - if they have, they proably already have the same virus as you on the mouth, and that makes them very unlikely to catch the same virus again genitally!. Since 80% of adults have oral herpes, that means a significant number of your sexual partner are not at risk!.

The 20% of people who do not carry the oral herpes virus from childhood are at a high risk of this happening to them, though - since most of their partners will have oral herpes!. Neither I nor my sister caught cold sores as kids, and by our mid twenties we had both caught genital hsv-1 from receiving oral sex from partners that did get cold sores!. Neither of our partners had symptoms at the time!.

Bear in mind that if you are very careful about avoiding contact during symptoms, you can keep the risk down, so it is unlikely you have infected any of your sexual partners without them developing symptoms!. If you are performing unprotected sex on a partner who does not have oral herpes hsv-1, then your risk of infecting them is about 10% a year!.

I caught genital herpes this was 7 years into a relationship with a partner with cold sores!. My sister caught it four months into the relationship, and another friend caught it the very first time they had oral sex - all without symptoms!. You just have to be aware that the risk is always there and inform your partners!. 70% of new genital herpes infections are actually caught this way through oral sex!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

no!.!.!.there are different forms of herpes!.
one is on the lip, and one, gential herpes, are found in "areas of sexual contact"

so technically, if you have cold sores, you have the herpes virus in you, but you will never get them in the other form, unless you do have sexual contact with someone infected, or if you receive oral sex from someone with a cold sore!.

cold sores are very common, so don't feel like you're the only one who gets them!.

cold sores can spread very easily!. it can be caught through direct contact, kissing, indirect contact (someone touches an object, you touch it, then you touch your lip), or from sharing drinks!. once you catch a cold sore from someone, that particular form of herpes is with you forever!.

however, like i said, genital herpes cannot be caught unless you have sexual contact with someone with them!.

also, genital herpes can be random, and pop up anytime!. same with cold sores!. but, there are people i know that get cold sores when certain things trigger them, like being sick, having a cold (really common, so i'm guessing that that's why they're called cold sores), and even before a girl starts her period!.

but even if there are no visable signs that you have any form of herpes, you will always be carrying the virus with you!. but, it can only be contagious when a person actually has a visable sore!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Cold soresCold sores, sometimes called fever blisters, are clusters of small blisters on the lip and outer edge of the mouth!. Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus!.

Once a person is infected with the herpes simplex virus, cold sores can occur repeatedly!. The sores often weep a clear fluid and form scabs after a few days!. A cold sore typically lasts 8 to 10 days and is contagious until the blister is completely crusted over!.

Cold sores usually heal on their own!. Medications are available for more rapid healing, reducing pain, and reducing the severity of future outbreaks!.

The only way that you can contract genital herpes is if your genitals actually come in contact with one or more of the herpetic strains (cold sores on someone's mouth when they are performing oral sex on you, shingles=the resurfacing of chicken pox, also known as herpes zoster, rubbing against that area, or having sexual contact period with anyone with genital herpes!.) We've all seen the Valtrex commercials!.!.!.!.You can spread it to your partner even if you don't have symptoms!. It would be safe practice to avoid letting people ever drink after you, or giving oral sex when having a breakout of cold sores!.
