Why do we use cholesterol lowering drugs?!


Question: Why do we use cholesterol lowering drugs!?
Studies financed in part by Bayer showed that blood thinning prevented clots which in turn prevents heart attacks!. What reports fail to say is that hemorrhagic strokes increase!. The net effect is that there is the same rate of death among participants in the studies!.

Why are we prescribing these drugs when a comprehensive change in diet and lifestyle has proven to be the most effective treatment!?

A low fat vegitarian diet, has been shown to be effective in reversing heart disease in the long term!. Drugs and invasive procedures are not a long term solution!. See studies by Dr!. Dean Ornish!.

My concern is that drug companies seek profits over the health of consumers!. Do you share this concern!? How do you feel about it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am also in the health industry and this also disturbs me, medical journal 2 weeks ago has suggested that Cholesterol Lowering drugs actually contribute to Heart Disease!.!.!.!.mind bogglng to say the least, when as you say a life style change is usually all that is needed!.
Drug companies hold vunerable patients looking for a quick fix to ransom, also many Dr's by providing free samples!.!.!.These drug companies are multi- billion dollar industries!!! thats why, profits talk!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had Chorea as a kid and when I turned up at a specialist in 1975 he said not to bother wasting my life working and to have lots of holidays!. My next cardiac visit was in 2000 and I was pleased to see that there were new drugs!. The thinners (WARFARIN) is a source of concern to me but with a mechanical valve I don't have any other option!. The cholesterol drugs are a different set of drugs altogether!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
