Open wound for 3 days???
my bf had a pimple on his finger which looked yellow and infected. his mom popped it and it pussed and bled for an hour. the next day his whole hand swelled up like a baseball glove and he went to a clinic and the doctor told him it is a bug bite. he only gave him pills and told him to wrap it in a gauze strip...its still bleeding and pussing and its been 2 days already...im getting worried. what is it?

What were the pills he was given? Did the doctor take a culture of the drainage? any chance of there being a foreign body (splinter, etc.) in the wound? This could be a bite (spider?) , but without seeing it, it is hard to determine. Since he has been on the pills for 48 hours, he needs to call his doctor back to let him know the abscess is not improving and he needs to be re-evaluated.
p.s. if sterile techniques were not used to drain the infected area, or if she used squeezing to open it (that actually forces the infection back into the body) , the reaction and infection he is now experiencing may have been caused by his mom. Please be careful when draining an infection in the future.
