Question: My rights as a minor at the gynecologist!?
I am sexually active and I have engaged in unprotected oral sex (performed and received)!. I want to be responsible and get an std check at a gynecologist office, however, my only concern is will this information be passed on to my parents!?!?!?---whether it's through the doctor notifying them or through my insurance coverage!?!?!? What are my rights as a minor!?!? And if worse comes to worse and I am infected with some STD and need medication will my parents have access to any of that information as well!?!? Please helppp!!! The good news is your gyn will not be able to disclose any info to your parents!. The only concern, the insurance; your gyn can bill it as an office visit without any details that will show to your parents other than you've seen a gyn doc!. So I would go forward with the first step in seeing a gyn!. You may tell your parents that it was your yearly check up!. Also some family docs and internist do care for women and cover some issues with STD/gyn!. That is also another option for you if you think that your parents will not accept your yearly check up idea!. Again those family docs will do the same when it comes to billing your insurance and will chart it discreetly if you ask them to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Go to a free clinic (i!.e!. teen clinic or county health department) rather than you regular doctor if you can!. Even if they discreetly bill your insurance, you parents may still drill you about why you went!.!.!.unless you normally go to the doc without them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
You may want to consider going to your local Health Department or Planned Parenthood!. Testing is confidential, and free in most cases, so your parents won't see anything about your visit on a statement from your insurance company!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
in depend, the gyne that i went they mail the bill with that show what i had done, but they didn't get the positive or negative!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
for real, i went to the health department instead of going to my own doc when i was a teen so they would not find out!. they are great and FREE!!! call them they are everywhere!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
