It is impossible for anyone to give you a diagnosis over the internet!. There are many things that can cause fever, weight loss, abdominal pain, or bloody stools, for example - just too many to list here!. Only the treating physicians can tell you what the results of tests and cultures have shown thus far, and where their workup is leading them!.

If you are required to wear masks, this just means that TB is under consideration, not necessarily proven!. In the best of cases, even with Nucleic Acid testing of a sputum sample, it usually takes a week or more to truly identify the presence of TB in a clinical sample!.

No investigation of contacts at home or work would be done until TB is definitively isolated from a sputum, peritoneal fluid, joint fluid, spinal fluid, or lung fluid!.

To err on the side of caution, we aim to isolate 100 patients who do NOT have TB for every 1 case of true TB!. Thus, it is statistically more likely that your cousin does not have this infection but it just being investigated!. There is no emergency to treat those who have been in contact with him - because if they are infected, they likely have been infected already for weeks to months, and if they are not sick, they cannot transmit the germ to others!.

For now, just sit tight, wait for the results of the TB cultures!. If they are truly positive, rest assured that the Health Department will do all appropriate contact tracing!. If it is not TB, then the requirement for masks and special room will be removed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you can test positive for TB, but it not be active and therefore not communicable!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

need more information to answer ur question about what he may have but blood in the stool is not TB as TB is a respiratory disease!.
also, depending on where u are in the disease course, all those precautions may not be necessary!.
for instance, if s/he is on medication for a while and have 3 consecutive negative sputum culture for AFB (acid fast bacilli) than they're ok to go!.

as for testing for TB, just because ur positive doesnt mean u have it!. a positive test is confirmed with culture and chest x-ray!. a positive test result just means u have been exposed to it and may not have active disease!. u can also test positive if u've ever had the BCG vaccine!.

some signs/symptoms of TB are cough,
phlegm, fever, chills,
difficulty breathing!.
all this is confirmed with sputum culture positive for AFB!.
the doctor needs to notify the health department and CDC if positive!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
