What are the requirements for a sputum test?
Meaning the materials, procedures, and so on. Basically tell me everything you possibly can about the test!!!

Generally this can be done by a respiratory practitioner. They give you a warm mist to breathe which makes you cough & anything you bring up from deep in your lungs you caough into a cup (NO saliva or spit); that then goes to the mircobiology dept at a lab and they culture it onto different medias (like a special growth media for TB) and do a gram stain and a acid fast stain & look at the results under a microscope to see if harmful bacteria are there. It can take quite a time for TB to grow (weeks) so the final results take a long time.
