What is this painful lymph node?!

Question: What is this painful lymph node!?
For a couple of months, I have had a pain in, what turns out to be, my neck!. At first, I thought it was another ear infection, but after seeing 2 ENTs and having a mastoid and soft tissue of the neck CT scan done, the doctor said it was probably an infected lymph node!. He put me on antibiotics & they did not help a bit!. Now the pain is beginning to become unbearable!. The area is swollen & the node is hard & easily found, but extremely painful!. Can it still be an infection after the round of antibiotics, and if not, what can it be!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Get your doctors to rule out Lymphoma, please!. Don't trust the ENT or primary care doctor for this!. A diagnosis of lymphoma is often missed by ENTs and primary physicians until you are more sick from it!. See a cancer specialist, preferably a hematologist oncologist, and get that specialist to rule out Lymphoma!. I am not saying you have Lymphoma!. But a swollen lymph node can be the first sign of Lymphoma (as well as it can be a number of other noncanerous things too) So don't waste time!. If the antibiotics didn't work, then it's probably not an infection!. Don't just wait around wondering and letting your ENT tell you to give it another month!. Also, if the ENT wants to ultrasound or biopsy the swollen node, or even remove the painful node, be aware that those tests can come back negative when in fact the person does have Lymphoma (because the cancer can be elsewhere and the actual swollen, painful node is just a symptom)!. Source: Family member had this experience, had tons of antibiotics, scans, and even going so far as to have the painful node removed and be told it was nothing by ENTs, and later to find out it was a misdiagnosis and when family member developed more serious Lymphoma symptoms then got properly diagnosed by a cancer center!. So, please, just get it ruled out early on (because if it is a Lymphoma, the earlier it is detected, the more successfully it can be treated, many lymphomas are completely curable and are not death sentences, so don't be frightened)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is probably not an infection then, but an enlargement, and swelling, and it doesn't go away in many cases, if not most!.

It may have to be surgically removed!. Well, at least it is not more serious!. Just inconvenient!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Could be viral, which won't be helped by antibiotics!. Just be sure to drink lots of fluids and get plenty of rest!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
