Pierced my lip 3 weeks ago, it isn't infected, yet-?

All of the skin circular around the hole is swollen. It isn't too noticeable, but when I take the ring out, if you feel the piercing 'wound' so to speak, it feels like a small pea.. Why wont the swelling go down? What should I try?

Put some ice on it, it might not work, but its worth a shot right? You might want to stop taking the ring out though, because I dont think your supposed to until its healed. The same thing happened to me but I just let it go and it healed up fine. I think it might be normal. And the previous answerer is right- guys with lip piercings are really hot. =)
