Hives affecting life?!

Question: Hives affecting life!?
I have a friend who has sever hives that cause her to have eyes swell shut, feet bloat, lips swell, etc and she can not hold a job because of them!. I was wondering if anyone knows someone who also has sever hives and was able to get SSI disability!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have been there had them that bad!. I was self employed and managed to keep going so didn't address the SSI problem!. I was also having some lung issues and my doctor had me on serevent or advair which seemed to control the hives along with claritin!. I know another person that uses singulair that helps control hives!.

I lucked into finding out that gluten was causing my hives when I went on a diet and the hives stopped within 3 weeks!. After adding in different things, found out it was gluten so have been gluten free and hive free for 6 years now!. If your friend wants to try a gluten free diet, the easiest way is to eat fresh fruit, vegetables, non processed meat and eggs!. Stay away from any sauces or gravies since almost all commercial ones have gluten in them!. Before going on the gluten free diet, she should get tested for celiac disease but then try the diet anyway no matter what the results are!. If she goes gluten free and then wants to get tested for celiac disease she could get a false negative!.

Sounds most definitely like an allergic reaction and more than likely to something in her immediate environment, or something she is consuming!. She should keep a diary of her intake so that the doc she is going to have to see can evaluate patterns, etc!. This is most definitely something that needs to be addressed by a doc/clinic!. Please encourage your friend to seek medical attention, as this potentially could get worse!. Most definitely she could start the SSI process, but in the meantime, she needs to ask her docs to refer her to someone who can help!. "If you can't help, then send me to someone who can"!! Epi pen is for allergies, and they would not have given it to her unless they suspect allergies!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your friend needs to find out what is causing the hives before she has a severe allergic reaction, which could cause death!. She may need to get an Epi-Pen to carry with her when she has a reaction!. She needs a doctor before things get more serious!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes she can go on disability! She has Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria! I have it, going on 6 years!. It's a horrible disease and there isn't a cure!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
