Is there a vaccine for Shingles?!

Question:

Is there a vaccine for Shingles?

I have seen all my family members (grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles) come down with Shingles over the years and in all cases its been very debilitating and painful. My mother and grandmother had it on their faces. Is there a vaccine for this??? I do not want to get this thing!!

I might add that I am not over 60 - and over half of my relatives have gotten shingles before they were 60.

Answers:

In other words.....if you had chickenpox as a child, you already have the virus and the potential for developing shingles. The so called vaccine is only given to the elderly, because of the risks to the elderly in having shingles.
There are medications available now that make shingles much less traumatic than they used to be. Don't obsess about it, and you probably won't develop it.
