My grandmother is dying of cancer!. Under six months left to live!. Can someone give me a site where I can learn about cancer, and hopefully help her feel better for the next six!? months she has left!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your grandmother has a specific type of cancer !. !. that has metastasized to these other locations within the body!.
Just briefly !. !. !. cancer is an umbrella term that refers to over 200 different types of disease and just as many subtypes!. So possibly your grandmother has a primary breast cancer !. !. this would be where the cancer first started!. Cancer starts as a single cell and mutation occurs where the cell loses the ability to stop growing!.
In your grandmothers case that single cell was a breast cell (not sure if that is what she has, just guessing)!. The breast cell grows and grows until it becomes a nodule, grows more over weeks, months, years until it is a tumor !. !. the tumor can than replicate !. !. and make more tumors!. Eventually those tumors begin to shed hundreds of microscopic malignant cells into the blood steam or lymphatic system!. This is called metastasis !. !. those hundreds of cells float throughout the body and lodge in another location!. They are still breast cancer cells!. They can lodge in the lung, the bone, the liver, the brain !. !.anywhere and start a new cancer colony!. This is why chemotherapy is given into the blood stream !. !. in the hope that the chemo will follow those microscopic cells and kill them in those locations!.
Once metastasis occurs though !. !. it is very very difficult to treat cancer!. Sometimes it will work for a while but than it will stop working!. This can go on and off as a patient tries out different treatments!.
A patient can go into remission or eventually the cancer will progress to a point where treatment is no longer effective!. This is possibly the point you are at with your grandmother!. The six months is just a guess by her doctors !. !. they really do not know !. !. she might not survive six months !. !. or she could surprise them all and live another six years or longer!. No one really knows !. !.its just a best guess based on what is known about other patients with the same disease!. But everyone is different!.

There are so many different types of cancer!. You need to know specifically what type of cancer she has and in what stage it is in!. If you know those factors, you can Google that information and get a better understanding!.
Another alternative would be talk with her Physician as he would know exactly what is going on and if other systems of the body are involved!.

I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother! I know it must be hard, but you can really make the best of the situation!. This website is the best one I found that gives you tips on how to care for someone with cancer, and on the left side you can click "Learn about Cancer" to find information on the specific cancer she's been diagnosed with!.

But what you need to understand is in your own heart - you don't have to know what is happening inside your grandmother to help her (unless you are making medical decisions for her)!. You need to be there for her, read to her, hold her hand, talk to her, tell her you love her!. Just be there and make her days happy because she has you to look at and love!. My son is only 2 years old and he has kept me alive through the worst pains and sorrows immaginable with the last 2 years of battling cancer!. He doesn't even really know I'm sick - he just makes me happy cause he loves me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
