Question: My mother died from an enlarged/weak heart cardiomyopathy!?
She also had right ventricle weakness (i think) she also had 2 big strokes and a mini one her outlook was poor but she lived!. Her consultant gave her 10 years to live that was 7 years ago!. Anyway my mother told me to get tested as it might be heditary!. If this is the case what are the symptoms!? As i occassionally get pains in my chest and back (it lasts for a few secs its like sharp stabbing pains) i have not thought about this as we have had enough problems with my mum!. I also have 4 young children i never find time to get to the doctors for myself!. Anyway the key questions is wouldnt i have high blood pressure if i had some issues!? My mum died at 47 2 weeks ago with enlarged heart (post mortem) i am 29 my mums death has made me think about my mortalityWww@Answer-Health@Com

Maximum tests that they can do on you are:
CBC!.
LFT!.
UCE!.
Xray chest!.
or an EKG!.
Meanwhile enjoy life, OK!. Nothing is going to be wrong with you!. Just avoid risk factors and do physical daily!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In most cases you can't prevent cardiomyopathy!. Let your doctor know if you have a family history of the condition!. If cardiomyopathy is diagnosed early, treatments may prevent the disease from worsening!.
You can help reduce your chance of heart failure by avoiding some of the conditions that can contribute to a weak heart, including the abuse of alcohol or cocaine, or not getting enough vitamins and minerals!. Controlling high blood pressure with diet and exercise also prevents many people from developing heart failure later in life!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

It could be a herreditary condition, so you should get checked out!. I am sorry for your loss!!! You could expect the doctor to listen to your heart, take your blood pressure, do an EKG (a picture of the electrical activity in your heart) and possibly and echocardiogram (which is a doppler of your heart, kindof like they do when you are pregnant) and possibly some blood work!. Please get yourself to the doctor and take care of yourself so you can take care of those children!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mum!.

You must obviously be very worried, apart from your grief, and that is quite understandable!. But talking with your doctor about your worries and getting a check-up might help!. Please find time to to do, if not for yourself, but your your 4 wee ones!. Once it has been dealt with you will feel more in control of your life etc!.

Sorry for your loss!.

If there is a risk of it being hereditary (and I am not a doc) get it checked even if it is just to be reassured - it is easier to get someone to watch the kids for an hour now than have to think about who is going to look after them full time because you didn't get it checked!.

If it is something to worry about then you can start to take precautions now - remember your mum was 10 years older than you are when she was diagnosed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm really sorry for you loss of your Mum!. I hope you and your family is okay!.

I would go to the doctors, to get checked out and have tests!. Even if you have a low blood pressure and your mym had high, you could still have it!. And if you have pains in your chest and back, I suggest that you get checked out to see if you have what your Mum had!.
Also, check your kids, and get them to have tests!.

Hope i helped you a bit!.
Really sorry for your loss again!. My thoughts are with you!. xWww@Answer-Health@Com
