I had thyroid disease and had my thyroid removed. ?!

Question: I had thyroid disease and had my thyroid removed!. !?
My doctor told me that my T3 and T4 levels are correct but my TSH is at 30!. He told me that I'm fine because my T3 and T4 levels are right and the TSH doesn't matter as much!. I told him that he's wrong and requested a higher dosage!. Am I right or is he!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Oh my, you are hypothyroid! TSH DOES matter! And I am guessing if he thinks it doesn't then he isn't up to date on the latest acceptable lab values for TSH (1!.0 - 3!.3 is considered normal now)!. When I was diagnosed as hypothyroid over 8 years ago, my TSH was well over 100 but my T4 was fine!. Damn, if I'd seen him he wouldn't have done anything! Your TSH needs to be lower!. Even if you are on Synthroid, it is not acceptable to have such an elevated TSH!.

Depending on what thyroid disease you had will depend on where the TSH needs to be!. If you had thyroid cancer, then it is acceptable to have a supressed TSH so that the cancer doesn't have an opportunity to grow!.

I would high-tail it to an endocrinologist who specializes in thyroid disease ASAP!.!.!.that doc needs to not be treating you!!

Best of luck to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Did you go to medical school!? If you doubt his diagnosis get another opinion, but don't assume he's wrong because he told you something you didn't want to hear!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
