Lorie,
The brief answer to your secondary question is an emphatic NO! Allow me to explain!. Peptic ulcers, which are also known as Duodenal ulcers, Gastric ulcers, Stomach ulcers, happen when the acids that help you digest food damage the walls of the stomach or duodenum!. The most common cause is infection with a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori!. Another cause is the long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs) such as aspirin and ibuprofen!. Stress and spicy foods do not cause ulcers, but can make them worse!. Peptic ulcers will get worse if not treated!. The symptoms of gastric ulcers include indigestion and heartburn in the middle of the upper abdomen, nausea and loss of appetite, weight loss and repeated episodes of gastrointestinal bleeding!. Treatment may include medicines to block stomach acids or antibiotics to kill ulcer-causing bacteria!. Not smoking and avoiding alcohol can help!. Surgery may help for ulcers that don't heal!. The main symptom of kidney stones is pain in the left or right lower back or pelvic area that becomes excruciating as the stone attempts to leave the kidney through the narrow ureters!. Other symptoms are blood in the urine and a need to frequently pass urine!. Gallstone symptoms include sudden intense pain, usually in the upper right abdomen accompanied by fever, nausea and sometimes vomiting!. These attacks may last from between half an hour to around four hours!. After the attack has subsided, some residual soreness may last for around a day or so!.

A peptic ulcer is an ulcer which occurs in the digestive system!. The pain associated with it depends on it's location!. If you're prone to peptic ulcers you can take a supplement called "DGL" (deglycyrrhizinated liquorice) which is found in most health food stores as a chewable tablet that doesn't taste like liquorice at all, but it can reinforce the mucous lining in your stomach!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have not had a ulcer but people say it is located in the stomach itself (the pain) and is sharp!.!.!.I have had a gallstone (boy have I!) and it is pain from the right side that radiates around to the back and can involve the stomach as well!.!.!.both feel like a belly ache but one is sharp and the other a dull, crampy pain!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
