Physical Tomorrow. Will my doctor be able to tell I'm bulimic? HELP?!?!

Question:

Physical Tomorrow. Will my doctor be able to tell I'm bulimic? HELP?!?

I have a physical tomorrow afternoon and I'm freaking out about if my doctor will be able to tell I'm bulimic. I've been throwing up a lot for the last 4 or 5 months so I don't know if she'll know. And I'm worried because my doctor is a good friend of my mom's and I'm scared she'll tell her if she figures something out. HELP?!

Answers:

There are residual signs between your mouth, digestive tract and blood work (generally higher levels of some things and lower levels of others) that will suggest bulimia (or another eating disorder) to a good doctor. And as someone said, that's the good news. The bad news is that your illness NEEDS to be treated. The earlier you deal with it, the higher chance that you'll be successful with treatment.
I'm not just saying this to scare you, but there are many, many deaths caused annually by bulimia and the suffering that builds up to the deaths can last years in later stages if left unchecked. Bulimia isn't just an eating disorder, it's a mental disorder as well which is why it's tough to treat.
PLEASE do yourself a favor and seek treatment. Tell your mom because she will find out eventually because of the nature of progression of the disease. You can only hide it for so long before it spirals out of control and begins to effect things like your heart rhythm, your teeth and your digestive tract.
BULIMIA KILLS. It honestly does. Think about the effects and seek treatment. It's not worth it to put vanity in front of your health in any situation.
