Can hayfever cause chest infections?!

Question:

Can hayfever cause chest infections?

Until today I thought I had hayfever but now my chest is very tight and wheezy. I've had asthma since I was 3 and have only recently started getting hayfever.

Can anyone tell me if hayfever can lead to chest infections?

Answers:

Yes, if mucus sits still anywhere in your body, in this case your chest, it can and will grow bacteria which in turn leads to an infection. Hayfever is primarily in the upper respiratory tract (the nose) but post nasal drip can allow it into the lungs. ts best to see a doctor and get an antihistamine and/or antibiotics if needed. the antihistamine is your best friend in fighting hay fever!!
