How should I prevent/treat pimples?!

Question:

How should I prevent/treat pimples?

I wash my face at least twice daily, and I apply pimple treatment cream every night before I sleep. Somehow, they don't work very well. My pimples, be it treated by cream or popped, leave dark spots behind. I'm using a fading cream to cure all these spots, but the pimples keep appearing and there's no end to it. I'm currently using Biore's Men Active Scrub face wash, and have tried many other products but all to no avail. Some scars even pop up. I'm using the Clearasil Vanishing Pimple Treatment Cream currently.

Also, my face is very oily on the T-zone. Sebum appears within less than 2 hours from when I wash my face. Please help.

Answers:

First off, before i say too much, if you have the monetary means, i say visit a dermatologist. They will prescribe the best of the best for you.
My girlfriend uses proactive, and her face looks better than ever. She had a few scars she was self-conscious about that were left from popping pimples, and they disappeared. I personally have not used that treatment, but i have seen its work.
I personally had a moderate case of acne, so i visited the dermatologist. She prescribed a face wash called benziq that i use in the morning and at night. and at night i use a cream called ziana, which is AWSOME. it prevents future pimples, and forces all leftover bacteria in your skin to the surface. for the first week your face will get a little worse, and afterwards, if you continue with it, your pimple free. these items can only be retrieved with a prescription though.
If you are looking for an over the counter treatment, i recommend Aveno. I know it might sound like a girls brand, but don't worry, whatever gets the job done. the products i recommend are an exfoliate to remove the top layer of skin, a cleanser to remove dirt and bacteria, and the spot corrector, to remove scars. they have many other items for specific problems, so you can check out the website.

One last thing, i asked my dermatologist if it was ok to pop your pimples. she said that its only ok to pop whiteheads that have surfaced on your skin. And to be gentle. She said to leave pimples that have not surfaced alone, to prevent scaring, and making them look worse.

hope this helped! best of luck man!

(EDIT: Im currently a Junior in college pre-med bound to become a dermatologist, And Contrary to what "Harriet J" Says, If a doctor prescribes acutane (which is an oral fix for acne) DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! Acutane and other oral fixes effects are known for severe and common side effects such as Depression, Severe worsening of condition, and in women who are pregnant can cause fetal deformities. )
