You are probably taking pain medication!. Having that type of surgery is pretty painful, especially as an adult!. Pain medication has a nasty side effect of constipation!.

Pain medication slows down the smooth muscles of the body!. These smooth muscles are located all over, but what is happening in your case is that the smooth muscles of the intestines are being slowed down so much that the fecal matter isn't moving through your system!.

I have heard that taking a stool softener and drinking a lot of water will help clear that up, but while you are taking the pain meds it still will not be the way it was before!. After you are recovered and no longer need the pain medication the constipation should clear up shortly thereafter!.

It's just one of those things we have to live with!.

Good luck! Get better soonWww@Answer-Health@Com

First of all if you are taking prescription pain medication from the surgery this could be causing your constipation!. Go to the pharmacy and get some Phillips Milk of Magnesia(the liquid or tablets)!. If you are not going to be going anywhere you can go ahead and take as directed!. It will help within a few hours!. You can also try glycerin suppositories which can also be found in your pharmacy!. They will help a little sooner and will lubricate for easier passage!. As far as the throat pain try just taking Advil or Mortrin for the pain and swelling in your throat!.

Hope you feel better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree with everyone about pain medication being the cause and stool softeners are great except they do not begin to work until you've taken them for several days!. Try a suppository which will work in 15 minutes to an hour with no diarrhea, If you still have not gone use a Fleet Enema!. Also, talk to the the pharmacist about the most fact acting laxative you can but OTC!. There is one they prescribe to be taken before you have a colonoscopy so that you are squeaky clean!. The drawback to this fast acting one id that it causes diarrhea and cramps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am not a doctor, but in my 10 years of collegiate schooling I learned that tonsils and adenoid have nothing in common with passing stool!. You might have a more serious problem!. I would suggest consulting a doctor immediately!. The medicine that they used to knock you out for the surgery has that affect and it usually turns into a tapeworm!.

might be something to be worried about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

As was mentioned, many pain medications have a common side effect of constipation!. Eat lots of fiber!.

This may be a surprise to you, but cinnamon is full of fiber!. Go to town on that cinnamon!. I like mixing mine with milk, creating cinnamilk!. Yum!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have someone go to the WalMart or drug store and get you some stool softener pills!. They will get rid of the constipation problem!. Have them get you some popcicles and icecream and chocolate pudding also!. Hope you are better soon!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
