Herpes ethical dilemma?? ?!

Question: Herpes ethical dilemma!?!? !?
Ok, Now i understand that before you have sex with a new partner and you have genital herpes, you have to tell them!. However, what about if you have Herpes type 1 orally (Cold sore virus), do you have to tell any new partners before you kiss them that you have Type 1 herpes!?!?!? Well i have never heard of that before!. I have recently caught herpes type 1 orally and i am hell paranoid of passing it on to people!. I know that 70-80 percent of people carry the type 1 virus but still, that leaves the 20-30 percent susceptible to catching it!. Consider this scenario, your dancing with a girl at a club and your about to kiss her and u stop and yell over the top of the music, BEFORE U KISS ME, I HAVE TO LET U KNOW I HAVE TYPE 1 HERPES, who the hell does that!?!? or you have just had a nice date with a girl and at the end of the night you go to kiss each other good bye and then u stop her and say, "before we kiss i have type 1 herpes"!. I'm not trying to make a joking matter out of this but what do other people think of this!?!? Love to hear answers Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't see a problem with kissing a girl if you have oral herpes but not current cold sore - but I DO see a problem if you are going to give her oral sex!. I think you have a duty to inform any girl before you give her oral sex that you have oral herpes, and would therefore be putting her at risk of genital herpes hsv-1 - especially since I have never in my life come across anyone who uses dental dams for performing oral on a woman!.

Funny I asked this question yesterday and everyone said yes, you had an obligation to tell even before kissing!.

I have genital hsv-1 - same virus as you have on the mouth - I caught it from a partner with a history of cold sores giving me oral sex!. He had no current symptoms at all!.

It is funny how I have a moral duty to tell because I have the stigma of a genital infection, yet all the people with the same virus on the mouth never tell you before they give you oral sex because it is supposedly 'just a cold sore' that they get from time to time, and the one I hear a lot is that it is 'a form of herpes' but not related to genital herpes, oh no, and cannot be tranferred to the genitals or transmitted in between cold sores!. I wish those people would learn more about their oral infection and be aware that yes, hsv-1 actually causes half of genital herpes infections, that it is easily tranferred to the genitals from the mouth during oral sex and can easily be passed in between symptoms!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I guess I feel that since this is an issue, you really shouldnt be kissing anyone until you feel comfortable telling them that you have it!. Its not really fair to possible infect them without them knowing they have a chance of getting it! Obviously you probably dont want to yell it out over music in front of hundreds of people at a bar!. You need to make sure that you are going to kiss somone you feel comfortable with telling, instead of just risking it! Hope this helps!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, almost everyone I've ever known in my life gets cold sores, so I really wouldn't bother to say anything -- unless I actually had one at the time, then I would probably just say, "I don't want to kiss you cause I have a cold sore, don't want to risk passing it to you!." I don't think too many girls would freak out about it as it's so common!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe you wouldn't have caught it yourself if you didn't go around kissing anonymous guys/girls in clubs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What is worse is the people who dont even know they have genital herpes (carriers)Www@Answer-Health@Com

just tell her you have HSV 1, the odds are she might say "Oh same here!"Www@Answer-Health@Com
