ST/T wave changes can range from being an important sign of underlying disease to a variant of normality!. ECG reports printed out by machines are prone to over-report features, and physicians certainly do not rely on these!.

The term 'ST/T wave changes' is actually quite non-specific - I'll try to cover the broad types below:

Limited ST/T wave changes in the form of inversion or flattening can be normal depending on which leads they are seen in the EKG!. Widespread changes are always abnormal, and a referral for further evaluation is certainly appropriate!.

ST/T wave changes in the form of elevation or depression is usually a sign of abnormal underlying heart tissue, and should prompt further investigation - which would include taking into account your background risks for heart disease such as family history, BMI, smoking, and coexisting medical conditions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ST segment and T wave are two different things and if they are abnormal your heart is not normal , but the question is in which leads because in AVR you have T wave normally which is because the waves noted on ECG moves from left to right which is shown negative on ECG meaning they are on negative side , downward also called t wave inversion , the ST segment changes like st segment depression shows MI , T wave inversion shows myocardium ischemia , if your ANterior chest leads like v3 v4 have t wave invesion its area of your right ventrical if your v5 v6 have t wave inversion you left ventrical has ischemic tissue
in angina the st segment initially is elevated but later on due to MI myocardial ischemia the wave s depressed called st segment depression
you need cardiologist if you have those changes

Sounds like she was 'punting' because they weren't perfectly normal and she wanted to CYA!. If they were big changes she would have sent you to the ER in an ambulance!. She didn't, so don't worry!.

Let me get back to you in a few!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
