Answers:

i myself am aficted with the pain of kidney stones. been to a urologist and once the kidney stone enters the urethra, its there till its either removed surgically or by passing it on your own. as far as i know there is no meds to dissolve the stone or im sure my specialist would have perscribed them. just pain meds that in all reality take the edge off but really dont take it away. My stone was 9mm. my urologist informed me that he would not suggest passing a stone any larger than 5-6 mm. as besides the pain is so immense, the stone would make tears along the urethra and down thru its travels which opens the door for infection. My urologist had me carry the stone until it passed thru the ureter to the top of the bladder then performed surgery to remove the stone. then placed a catheter to keep the urethra open for any pebbles. I had my stone analyzed so i now know what its make up was and what i can now do to avoid this pain again. im a mother of three and having the stone was as painfull as child birth. i was lucky enough to have insurance to cover most of the expense $3000. my exhusband also incurred a kidney stone problem and he expelled his at the emergency room soon after they administered a type of dye intraveniously as they werent totally sure that it was a stone they were looking for. also very painfull but my agony lasted 3 months waiting for the stone to move to a place where they could finally remove it, his agony was 6 hours in length and his stone was 6mm. his totall bill was 650$. ps. my kidney is still aflicted with a stone mass i call my boulder. im on a strict diet and drink the necessary 10-12 glasses of water daily in hopes to break this mass down naturally. the only way. it helps. drink lots of water and cranberry juice. the water keeps you from dehydrating and provides a flushing effect to help move that stone. the cranberry juice will help ward off kidney infection. letting yourself dehydrate will cause more pain than you already are experiencing. seek a good urologist if you can, its worth it. believe me.
