My 3years old needs an MRI?!

Question:

My 3years old needs an MRI?

About one year ago, we had an incident where my then 2 years old son was tilting his head and looking downwards (like a libriarian). This happened over the course of the weekend. Turns out it is a form of strabismus. Anyways, the specialist recently ordered an MRI to be performed soon because she feels my son is tilting his head more. Now, my son often complains of eye and cheek pain. I haven't had the opportunity to tell the specialist yet. I just hope everything is o.k.

Answers:

For MRI's on young ones they put them under anesthesia. If you are concerned about that, keep in mind that he will only put under for a short period of time. Other than being put under the anesthesia it is a non invasive procedure that does not hurt. I understand that anything they want to do is a tough descision when it comes to your child but if it helps find out what is wrong then I would do it. I know it is hard but finding out what the problem at least gives you a course of action.
