Answers:
No!. Diagnosing meningitis requires a spinal tap, which removes a small amount of spinal fluid- not water - from the space, to be examined!. Meningitis is just a name meaning the meninges, the membrane which surrounds the brain and spinal cord!. It can be caused by a viral or a bacterial infection, and of the two, bacterial meningitis is the worse!. People with viral meningitis usually recover without a lot of trouble!. Bacterial meningitis requires intravenous antibiotics, and is more serious because those can cause more troubles!. However, simply doing a spinal tap most certainly doesn't mean you will never walk again!. The majority of people do!. Those that don't usually don't because of damage done to the spinal cord or in the brain by the disease, not the treatment!. Bacterial meningitis is serious enough that you don't mess around with alternative therapies!. It can kill you, quick- so it's not the time for herbs and reflexology!. Should answer most all your questions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

NO!.

a lumbar puncture does not cause any long term ill effects!. about 20% of people can get a headache after the procedure, but that goes away usually in a week or less!.

it is impossible to cause spinal cord injury from this procedure because the needle enters the back in the L4-L5 interspace, about 3 inches below the level where the spinal cord ends!.

if you've had meningitis and are having trouble walking, it is clearly not from the LP (spinal tap), but from some other cause!. You need to discuss this with your doctor, and at a minimum see a physical therapist to increase your strength and mobility!. Your doctor can give you a referral for that!.

Sorry, but reflexology is not going to give you any benefit!. I'm sure that philosophy has many fans in here, but it has no scientific proof of any benefit, and I wouldn't want you wasting valuable time with that as your muscles and nerves continue to atrophy!.

Also be aware that a consultation with a neurologist may help you find the cause, and appropriate treatment for any leg weakness - that is their specialy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
