Question:
I have what is called scratchy throat asthma, anyone else have it, any suggestions to help keep the cough down
its like a permanent tickle thats worse at night. I have an inhaler. I have tried a few of them and right now the one I have doesn;t seem to be working either. My colds last on the average of 4 weeks. I sound like I smoke, which I never have. Its terribly irritating and if there is something other than drugs out there I would like to try it. I drink water, have cough drops, I can't take cough syrup because it its asthma. I even resort to a little liqueur once in awhile to coat the throat. Help me. There has to be someone else out there that is going through this also

My daughter gets an asthmatic cough when she's sick. Sounds like exactly the cough you're describing. When her cough gets really bad, instead of just using the inhaler, I put her on a nebulizer. She gets capsules of both Albuterol and Pulmicort for the nebulizer and I'll give her one breathing session of each. It makes her jittery for a bit, but it seems to help calm the cough. Hope this helps. I know how absolutely frustrating this cough can be- good luck!!
