Stomach Flu or flu? ?!

Question: Stomach Flu or flu!? !?
I don't know what's wrong with me!. Urgh I felt like crap yesterday, it basically started with a cough, and I knew I didn't feel like myself at all!. but I wasn't horrible!.

I woke up this morning feeling the same when all of a sudden it hit me, this (pardon how gross it is) pure liquid diarrhea!. I was extremely nauseas too, and I got the chills!.

I have these pills my doctor gave me that you take under your tongue for nausea caused by a nervous stomach called hyoscyamine, so i took one of those this morning and went to bed!.

i still have a little diarrhea, but the chills are going away a bit and the nausea has calmed down a tad!. I still have one heck of a cough though!. I think I have a fever!.!.!. but it goes away when I take a tylenol!.

I haven't thrown up or anything then again I haven't eaten anything since yesterday nor had anything to drink since this morning!.!.!. so do you think this is a strain of the flu going around, or does this sound like a less intense stomach virus!?

And right now whenever a commercial for food comes on my stomach starts growling like crazy!. is it true rice, soda crackers and toast usually stay down!? or should i not eat!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It could be either!. with the latest strand of parainfluenza you could experience!.!.!.

Fever (usually high)
Headache
Muscle aches
Chills
Extreme tiredness
Dry cough
Stomach symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, may also occur but are more common in children than adults!.

with the stomach flu!.!.!. watery diarrhea and vomiting are the most common symptoms one may be worse!. Not all stomach flus will mean you'll be stuck with your head in the toilet!. The affected person may also have headache, fever, and abdominal cramps ("stomach ache")!. In general, the symptoms begin 1 to 2 days following infection with a virus that causes gastroenteritis and may last for 1 to 10 days, depending on which virus causes the illness; however, most episodes last from 1-3 days!.

very rarely do they start with the symptoms of a chest cold/severe cough/sore throat!. those are more usually attributed to the "flu" flu!.

I PERSONALLY think you may have a combo of a stomach virus and a cold!.!.!. a double unlucky whammy!. but I guess the best thing to say is this!.

1!. if you've had diarrhea and haven't had anything to drink, you're probably dehydrated by now!. you should try 7up, sprite or pedylite (not just for kids, also good for stomach flus!.) Lots of people say gateoraide, but i think it has too much sugar in it!. you need to stay hydrated, so drink a lot, in small sips!.

2!. if you're not vomiting and you can hold down an entire glass worth of clear liquid, you can try eating some soda crackers or toast!. Something bland!.

Rice is ok!.!.!. but I'd start very small and avoid dairy products until you are a few days out of symptoms and know you are feeling better!.
