Fever and the Hepatitis A Vaccine?!

Question:

Fever and the Hepatitis A Vaccine?

My 2 year old son received the first round of a hepatitis A vaccine two days ago (July 3). He got a fever last night around 10:00 (July 4) and has had it all day today as well (July 5). Is this common with this shot? It's making me nuts. I took him to the doctor and the doctor said the fever and the shot are not related, but he has no other symptoms than this fever. Ugh.

Answers:

Hep A vaccine is usually given in conjunction with the hep B vaccine (called Twinrix). Fever is not listed as a side effect of the shot, so maybe it's coincidental that your baby's gotten a fever.
