Is an aneurysm deadly?!

Question: Is an aneurysm deadly!?
Answers:
An aneurysm is an abnormal widening or ballooning of a portion of an artery, related to weakness in the wall of the blood vessel!. Some common locations for aneurysms include:

Aorta (the major artery from the heart) -- see abdominal aortic aneurysm and thoracic aortic aneurysm ( TAA)
Brain (cerebral aneurysm) / arteriovenous malformations (AVM)
Leg (popliteal artery aneurysm)
Intestine (mesenteric artery aneurysm)
Splenic artery aneurysm

Rupture of cerebral aneurysms( brain) can cause hemorrhagic stroke, disability, and death!. Brain surgery for aneurysms can also result in these complications!. If the aneurysm ruptures during surgery and bleeding cannot be controlled!. Even if the patient survives the clipping surgery, on the 3rd day, there might be cerebral vasospasm" (i!.e!., where, following hemorrhage, brain arteries go into severe spasm; i!.e!., they shut down, depriving the nearby brain tissue of oxygen and other nutrients!.- which is fatal!.

The main complications of aneurysm include rupture, infection, and compression of local structures!. Rupture of some types of aneurysms can cause massive bleeding, which is often fatal!. This is commonly seen with abdominal aortic aneurysms(AAA) , mesenteric artery aneurysms, and splenic artery aneurysms

In the case of rupture, low blood pressure, high heart rate, and lightheadedness may occur!. The risk of death after a rupture is high!. So time is of the essence!.

If you are found to have an aneurysm, you may not need an operation, but you should get checked every 4 to 6 months!. Your aneurysm may grow very slowly and have very little chance of rupturing!. If it grows quickly, it may rupture, and because of the location of the aneurysm--the aorta--there is a lot of blood, and you could easily bleed out!.

In conclusion, aortic and cerebral aneurysms are deadly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

An aneurysm is always deadly to some degree!. If it doesn't kill a person, it does kill off part of the person!. For example, an aneurysm in the brain will cause damage to some of the functioning capacity of the brain!. An aneurysm in one of the coronary arteries can cause death to part of the heart muscle!. But an aneurysm of one of the larger vessels of the body, such as the aorta or vena cava, can kill a person instantly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it goes unmonitored it could become large enough to rupture!. Ruptures can be deadly, it really depends on where they are and how long it takes to get PROPER treatment!. Those in the ascending aorta are usually fatal within seconds to a couple hours!. Those farther away from the heart such as abdominal can (have) been misdiagnosed and people have lived for a few days!.

The size they can be also varies by location, person and health!. Arteries have different sizes based on the amount of blood they need to carry, thus the aorta is the largest!. It also is larger farther away from the heart where it feeds all the majority of organs!. If a person has a defect such as a connective tissue disorder then it can cause a problem at a smaller size than it would in another person!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some of them are very deadly, if it bursts you will be dead in a few minutes!.

I had an Ascending Aortic Aneurysm!. (thats the major blood vessel leaving the heart)!. If it burst/dissected I would have died (bled out) before I got to the hospital!. Other ones such as brain Aneurysm often cause majorly severe headaches and sometimes brain damage but do not always kill you!.
If someone has an aneurysm it is usually treated surgically before it dissects!. From what I understand the aneurysms that kill people are the ones that are not found and fixed before they cause a fatality!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
