Upper abdominal pain-about an inch or two above navel, pencil thin bowel movemen!

Question:

Upper abdominal pain-about an inch or two above navel, pencil thin bowel movements, belching-what could be?

going on. Don't say go to doctor-that is obvious and I don't presently have a doctor. Either way, I'd like some idea of what might be causing these symptoms. I have been experiencing them for some time now.

Answers:

It could be a partial obstruction of the bowel, not to be taken lightly or something as common as indigestion. There are other bowel issues that would cause problems that need attention if it's a long-term problem as you've suggested. That would explain the thin bowel movements and abdominal pain. I'm not in the business of scaring people into going to the doctor but if you have abdominal swelling, constipation or develop a fever, then it's time to get to a doctor asap.
If abdominal pain becomes sharper or much worse, it's another reason to have it checked out. There are potential problems that can cause serious issues when your stool becomes markedly thinner. That is not usually a symptom of textbook indigestion. Best of luck...watch it and see if it passes.
