Innocent Question About Blood and AIDS?!

Question: Innocent Question About Blood and AIDS!?
This may seem like an odd thing to ask, but I'll ask anyway!.!.!.

OK, so I am an English teacher here in Korea and just recently, a wort on the edge of my thumb had burst and some blood came out!. In a couple of hours it gelled and dried up and the blood disappeared after I had washed my hands!. Then I just hung out with some friends and had a few drinks into the evening!.

I had not put a band-aid on my thumb because I didn't think it would open up again since I'm not the one to pick at things like scabs or the like!. So before my class the next day (Today), I checked my thumb and it was perfectly fine!. So I didn't feel the need to put a band-aid on it today either!.

All throughout the day, I was acknowledging my kids that I teach, with a high five (using both hands) for doing well on answering questions!. These were all slap high fives, not those grab high fives that some people do!.

Once I arrived at my apartment after class (which is in walking distance, about three minutes), I realized that the wort had re-opened and some blood was oozing out!.

I'm not sure when the wort had re-opened because there were a couple times where I had put my hands into my jeans pockets to take out my apartment keys or to dig out my cell phone from my pocket and the wort could have rubbed up against the hard texture of the jeans pocket!.

Or!.!.!.it might have re-opened when I was washing my hands after taking out the trash because right after washing my hands is when I noticed the re-opening of my wort!.

I myself DO NOT have AIDS, HIV, or any STDs, and it is pretty much an obvious thing that these elementary and junior high kids or friends I gave high fives and hand shakes to, do not have AIDS/HIV/STDs either!. I just want to make sure there is no way, not even the slightest chance, that I would be getting infected with any disease or the kids I teach!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Understand your concerns, but don't worry!. There was no risk in what you did!. To become infected you need to share needles with a HIV+ IV drug user or have unprotected sex with someone with HIV, neither happened!. Good question!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

do not worry, infectious diseases r not transmitted tru casual body contact, like huggin, it must hav been the impact of yr high fives, or accidental contact with any rough surface tat has aggravate yr wound!. but take note tat if u hav an open wound, and came into contact with an hiv person whom also has an open wound, yes there's possibility of infection!. a person with hiv/stds does not, and may not look like one, so u can never be sure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
