A pap is neither dangerous or painful!. It is a necessary part of life ESPECIALLY if you are sexually active!. The DR inserts a speculum into your vagina so he/she can see!. Then he/she will scrape some cells off your cervix and send them for testing!. The test looks for abnormal cells!. If there are abnormal cells it could be an early warning for cervical cancer among other things!. Unfortunately they do not test for all STIs unless you specifically ask!. If you want to be tested for HIV you have to mention that by name too!.
Paps are not fun, but they are part of a healthy adult female's life!. They can be uncomfortable but are easier if you can talk yourself into relaxing (easier said than done)!. Do not listen to G G, If you wait until it is life or death!.!.!. it will be too late!. The idea behind a pap is to catch anything wrong before it is too late!.

I have a titled cervix and had a pap smear, it was not painful at all even though the nurse had a bit of trouble finding the opening of my cervix!.
It's really important that you get a pap smear every year, as it's one of the best ways to find out if something is wrong--be it STDs, cancer, or other conditions (such as having a tilted cervix, which can make sex painful)!.

ok here it is!. sometimes it's painful sometimes it's not!. it all depends on your body and your doc!. me personally!? i didn't feel a thing!. my friend on the other hand said it hurt like heck!. the results will take 2 to 3 weeks!. your doc will either call you or send you a letter in the mail!. sometimes if they find abnormalities they will call you in for further testing!. then they will do more tests to see if you have STDs or infection!. it's not scary unless you let it be!. they will place a plastic looking cone shaped tool inside of you to open you up!. the doctor will then take a long q-tip and swab your cervix twice!. this process is called a PAP smear!. they will then use their hand to press against the inside of the vaginal cavity to make sure there are no growths or cysts!. they will also do a visual check to make sure there aren't any visible STDs present (such as warts or lesions) and that's it!. yes it's uncomfortable because they are all up in your space, but it really doesn't take long and you can ask your doc anything so be sure to ask them anything you want to know!. don't be embarrassed!. we all have to go thru it! it really is a good thing to do no matter how uncomfortable!. there are STDs and infections that don't even give you any symptoms!. this will makes sure they catch them in time!. especially if you are sexually active!Www@Answer-Health@Com
omg what is wrong with G G pap smears arent painful and are used to check for cervical cancer and stds it doesnt hurt and isnt painful this will benefit you trust me the results take about a week or two to come back and if your feeling scared take a friend that your feel comfortable with to go with you good luck hope this helps and dont ever let someone tell you something is no good or you shouldnt get something look into it and make your own opinions about things it your life and health!. dont get a papsmear, its one of the worst experianced you will exprience!. its painful, and discusting!. there is no need to get a papsmear!. the only reason u shuold ever get one is if you think its a life or death situation!. dont get it just cuz they say u shuld get one when your 15 or something like that!. its not worth it!.
