Is it hypoglycemia or a fluke? ?!

Question: Is it hypoglycemia or a fluke!? !?
I am a high school student, and I have not eaten lunch during the week for four years now!. In the past 3 months, I have experienced piercing headaches, distorted thinking and fatigue around the end of the school day, which is around seven hours after breakfast!. Suspecting low blood sugar, I borrowed a blood sugar monitor and took the test at 3pm, 9 hours after breakfast!. It showed a reading of 54mg/dl!. Is this something serious or just a result of not eating!. If it is a result of not eating, why is it appearing here in the past 3 months!? Any suggestions would be helpful!.

Note: I do not perform much physical activity during these hours, I do academic work!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I'm diabetic, type 2, non-insulin dependent!.

My doctor wants me to fall into the following mold!.

120 or less before I eat!.
180 or less 2 hours after I eat!.
Additionally he wants me to eat something immediately if I test and am below 80!.

You need a lot more "Data Points" (for lack of a better description) before you can say anything definitive!. I'll tell you though, this stuff is nothing to fool around with!. You need to figure out or preferably have a Doctor figure out what is happening with you!. This, IMO, is especially true since it is a recent change!.

When you go for as long as you do without food the liver takes over and converts other things into glucose!. You could be having liver problems or some other things could be going on!. I am not a doctor, only a diabetic with some knowledge of how this stuff works and I can see some real serious potential problems!. What you describe would worry me if it was happening to anyone around me!. I would insist on that person seeing a doctor and sooner rather than later!. There are very reliable tests your doctor can order that will answer your question definitively!.

Knowledge is power and if you catch either condition (hypo or hyperglycemia) early your life will be much better down the road!. I was diabetic, my doctor thinks, for at least five years before I was diagnosed!. The blood circulation in my extremeties is marginal, my hand and feet are numb, I have neuropathy pain in my legs and the list goes on and on!.

Get checked; if it's nothing then wonderful but if it is something you have a jump on it!.

Good luck!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You definitely need to eat something, even if its not a full meal!. But some kind of good carbs, not simple carbs (candy, soda) to keep your blood sugar up in the normal range!. (Noramal range 65-110mg/dL) Your blood sugar is low and the things you've described are symptoms of low blood sugar and could really impair cognitive thinking!. So I would consider!.!.eating lunch!. That would be the best thing for you!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should really eat lunch!.!.!. I don't know if it's hypoglycemia!. Maybe you should go to a doctor!. Or just freaking eat lunch!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You might be dying!.SorryWww@Answer-Health@Com

It could be low blood sugar, though I don't know anything about the numbers, but it is definitely because you don't have enough fuel for your body!. I don't know why it hasn't started causing harm earlier, but if you want energy to help with the schoolwork, then you need to eat!. Pack something that you can grab or make easily, so that you have no excuse!. A bagel with peanut butter or yogurt with granola with nuts are some ideas!. Peanut butter and almonds are good, because protein is good energy-and it's very good for the brain!. You might not believe this, but your brain also needs fat and carbs are still good for energy too! Be smart-you're brain needs just as much energy-probably more!-to do academic work as your body needs for physical, so eat more or your grades will go down! (and I'm not joking!)Www@Answer-Health@Com
