GERD and acid reflux?!

Question:

GERD and acid reflux?

I have had GERD for 4 years, I dont take any meds right now....Just mylanta and tums when really bad....My question is why does it hurt so bad after a night of drinking? I was told not to drink but Im in my 20s and still want to "party"...What is in the alcohol that makes it hurt so bad the next day? Why does it produce more acid...It makes me throw up acid sometimes because there is so much....And I know I need to make an appointment with my doctor....Thanks...any advise on GERD would be helpful...

Answers:

GERD symptoms are usually worse after eating.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a condition in which the liquid content of the stomach backs up into the esophagus.

If not treated, it can lead to more serious health problems. In some cases, you might need medicines or surgery. However, many people can improve their symptoms by

* Avoiding alcohol and spicy, fatty or acidic foods that trigger heartburn
* Eating smaller meals
* Not eating close to bedtime
* Losing weight if needed
* Wearing loose-fitting clothes

For infrequent heartburn, the most common symptom of GERD, life-style changes, the use of therapeutic grade essential oils to improve digestion, along with digestive enzymes and mineral supplements may be all that is needed.

Hope this helps.
