I have a cousin who is the same thing!. His dad died from aids [he got dirty blood from the hospital] but the mother nor the son got it!. There is a smell chance the mom will get it and even a smaller chance that the child will get it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The most common methods of transferring HIV is through blood, semen, and vaginal secretions!. It shouldn't be spread unless one of those gets inside your body!. It is possible not to pass it on to your partner, and shouldn't be given to your child unless a freak accident happens and you bleed on them when they have an open wound, you are having sex with your child, or the child gets in during labor from the infected mother's blood getting inside the child!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Did they all get blood tests to confirm that the father was HIV positive and the kid/mother was HIV negative!? Also, what is the ethnicity of the mother!? Certain ethnicities of Eastern European descent has the CCR5 delta32 mutation that renders them less susceptible to HIV infection!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Recently, there was a very similar question, which I answered with the following explaination!. I think it applies to your situation as well:

"HIV is not transmitted 100% of the time, so her mother may not have gotten it from her father when she was conceived!. If her mother was not HIV + at the time she was born, she would not have been born with HIV!. Also, these days, women who have HIV and are pregnant are given medications to reduce the risk of transmitting the virus to the baby!. Now the risk of transmission of HIV from mother to baby at birth is about 1%!. If the mother does have HIV, the baby is tested at birth and for several months to determine whether or not the baby is HIV+!. (Even years ago, the rate of transmission of HIV from mother to baby at birth was about 20-30%, well below 100%!.)
So yes, it is possible for your friend to be uninfected even though her father had HIV!."

(BTW, I believe you are the same person who asked the question the other day!. If so, please do not repeat the question!. I have now given you the facts you asked for--twice!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com
