I know that a chronic cough is a symptom of lung cancer!.
I just wanted to know,
Does a cancer cough thats chronic get worse or just stays the same!? What are the characteristics of a lung cancer cough!? For example is it dry, chesty, worse at certain times, gets worse, stays the same!.!.!.

Smoking is the cause of the chronic cough!.
Cancer is a result sometimes!. He can have a chronic cough for fifteen years!. My husband does!. My mom now has emphysema and can't walk for ten feet without gasping for breath!. She has been like that for twenty years!.
Tell your dad you are worried about him!.
You want him to go through life with you!. (graduation, marriage, kids!.!.!.whatever) Let him think quitting is for everyone else, not for himself!. Guys have a harder time than women!. Maybe I say that because when I put my mind to it I quit!. My husband is still smoking and has had chronic cough for years!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you are really only 14 or 15 then you do not need to worry about having lung cancer!.
If you have a chronic cough then it is quite possible that might have asthma, or allergies or maybe bronchitis!. See your Dr for an evaluation of your cough but you can quit worrying about having lung cancer for at least 15 years!.
Also never start smoking!. Smoking is the easiest way to raise your chances of developing lung cancer after 20-50 years of steady smoking!.

The only difference between a lung cancer cough and a cough caused by tons of other things, is that with a lung cancer cough people often cough up blood!. But even that is not a definitive sign for lung cancer because a few other things could cause that too!. Dont try do diagnose yourself, you will only end up scaring yourself if you start looking up symptoms you are having!. I once had a flu and looked up the symptoms and HIV is what came up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Smokers do get it due to chronic bronchitis & chronic pharyngitis!.But smoking about 20 cigarettes / day for 20yrs or more may result in lung cancer in 20% of them!.They spit out blood - after a bout of cough!.
Ask you father to consult a physician for a clinical examination as well as certain investigations like a chest x-ray,bronchoscopy etc!. if needed!.
Definitely motivate your father to quit smoking &if he is not aware inform him that from Oct' 2nd Govt!. of India has also prohibited smoking in public places

You should go to your doctor, and ask them to do some tests if you are worried about your chronic cough!. You don't necessarily have cancer!. There are tons of other conditions that can cause this!. But your best bet is to talk with your doctor or a qualified health care practitioner!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
