Can you have any kind of cosmetic surgery if you have Marfans Syndrome (weak Aor!

Question:

Can you have any kind of cosmetic surgery if you have Marfans Syndrome (weak Aorta)?

Answers:

In theory yes.

However, cosmetic surgery is normally done in private hospitals. Private hospitals, and in particular cosmetic private hospitals are used to healthy patients. Marfan's syndrome has a number of cardiac complications (eg aortic regurgitation) and therefore they may be unwilling to treat you, as they do not have the same facilities as a NHS hospital if there is a complication during your operation.

If you are serious about cosmetic surgery, you need to discuss with the surgeon and the anaesthetist. They will be able to advice you about your risks and what their local private hospital is like.
