Can I swim when I have poison ivy?

I have poison ivy and tonight I'm going to the lake. Can I swim?

Answers:

Sure, go ahead as long as it's not too severe(chances are, though, if it were too severe for swimming, you wouldn't feel up to going to the lake anyway.) I have swum with poison ivy tons of times, and I find it actually helps make it feel better. As long as there are no deep, open sores or humongous blisters, then go for it.
