There's really no way to tell, but classic kidney infection symptoms include heaviness in the kidney area, and tenderness, as well as blood in the urine!. I know one of my doctors always made me jump up and down, and boy, I could feel it then!.

Technically, the infection becomes a kidney infection once the bacteria moves up your ureters from your bladder to the kidneys!. That's all--it just moved up stream!. Usually, that happens because a bladder infection goes untreated!.

Also, just so you know, blood does not always mean your kidneys are involved!. Your urethra, which is what carries the urine from the bladder to the outside of your body, gets infected, too, and it can bleed, as well!. I get UTIs a lot, and the last time I had quite a bit of bleeding, but my kidneys were not involved!.

If you were diagnosed and given medication, it should clear things up!. If you still have symptoms after your regular course of antibiotics, which can happen, then you need to go back in and get either stronger or a longer course of drugs!. You didn't mention if they cultured your urine, but they may do that later, if they haven't already, because it allows them to tailor the drugs to the infection!.

Good luck, and get better soon!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It varies from one person to another!. My husband went 3 weeks without treatment then the infection quickly traveled to his kidneys (back/side hurts) then, almost fatally, into his blood stream!.

I know you are on an antibiotic now!. I suggest you increase your water intake up to 2 -4 liters a day unless contraindicated!. I call this the kidney flush because I think we develop plugs occas!. along with the infection!.

This has helped the majority of us, so give it a try!.
Again, I am sure you are being treated for your bladder infection!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
